Government officials investigate unruly behavior, DUI arrests

by Administrator 11. September 2009 02:55

State gaming regulators are investigating the arrests of eight people on drug, prostitution charges, and DUI Sunday. The arrests were made at the Hard Rock Hotel's Rehab pool and in the hotel parking lot, and are one of many arrests being investigated for unruly behavior at casion and hotel pools.

The gaming regulators are trying to crack down on the frequency of arrests by targeting business owners and threatening to report violations of their liquor licenses. The Clack County Business License Department said it would cooperate in the investigation and be willing to take away liquor licenses of prominent Las Vegas businesses.

Death penalty for drunk driving in China overturned

by Administrator 10. September 2009 06:57

While driving drunk in Las Vegas could mean jail time and other related penalties, it has carried an even higher cost in China until recently. In some past cases of drunk driving in China, convicted offenders have received the death penalty.

However, an appeals court in China recently overturned a death penalty verdict of a 30-year-old woman. The woman was convicted of drunk driving after killing four people in a drunk driving accident last December.

Instead of the harsh penalty, the woman received life in prison. The ruling may signal a reversal in Chinese policy toward drunk driving convictions.

While driving drunk in Las Vegas will not get you the death penalty, it could lead to many other serious penalties. If you have been arrested for a DUI, contact the Las Vegas DUI attorneys of Palmer & Associates, P.C., at 702-893-3350.

The campaign culminates with Labor Day weekend, a holiday traditionally riddled with drunk driving accidents. Because of this, police will be out in full force this weekend, looking for drunk drivers.
