Early Thursday morning, Todd Shaw, the rapper known as Too Short, was arrested for DUI. Around 4am, Shaw was pulled over for speeding 11 to 15 mph over the posted limit and not having a required turn signal.

While being arrested, Shaw was found to be in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Because of this, the charge becomes a felony. He was previously arrested in June for speeding and DUI, further hurting his case.

In anticipation of Labor Day, a national campaign to reduce drunk driving is in full swing. The campaign involves fortifying police patrols in the two weeks leading up to Labor Day and through that weekend.

From August 21 through September 7, police will be on the road and on the lookout for drunk drivers. As a result, DUI arrests have gone up in many counties across the nation.

In Bristol, Tennessee, the county is holding a carwash to benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The people performing the actual washing will be inmates charged with DUI.

The carwash allows DUI offenders to "give back" and gives them a little help as well. The time spent at the carwash will count double toward their hours in jail. The Sheriff's Office will transport the offenders and supervise the carwash.

A 22 year old woman was charged with DUI after causing a crash on Saturday. The woman was driving along I-15 near Victorville, California on her way back from celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas when she made an unsafe lane change.

The woman hit an SUV, causing it to roll over and injuring the occupants. Another vehicle was also involved but there were no other injuries. The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash and arrested the woman, charging her with felony DUI.

Early Thursday morning, a police officer pulled a man over in Castro Valley, California. The man was pulled over around 1:15am for possible drunk driving. He then sped away while the officer was talking to him.

At the end of a short police chase, the man lost control, hit a parked car and a light post and flipped his own car. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A California man was arrested Friday night for drunk driving and again Monday night for violating the terms of his probation. On Friday the man attempted to get in his truck to drive home when he was stopped by a citizen. He then returned to his truck and was arrested by a police officer.

On Monday, police were conducting surveillance on the man and found him at a bar with a BAC of .163. While he was not driving, he was in violation of his probation, and was charged with felony DUI because of his multiple violations.

Anthony Dixon, running back for Mississippi State University, pleaded guilty to DUI on Monday. The college football player avoided court with his plea after a July 18 incident.

Dixon will pay a $500 fine for his first offense DUI. His coach also said that he will be reprimanded but did not say what that would entail. The university has released Dixon's apology.
