A woman in Chicago has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for a DUI case. The woman pleaded guilty to DUI in an accident on November 8 in which she killed another woman and 2 children.

Because of the three deaths associated with her DUI, the woman's penalties grew a great deal. She will not be eligible for parole until she has served the first 20 years of the sentence.

In Virginia, the police chief of one city has been arrested on DUI charges. Chief David Baker of Alexandria, Virginia was arrested over the weekend after a car crash.

Because of the arrest, Baker is resigning his position, effective Friday. His BAC was read at .19, nearly two and a half times the legal limit. As a result, he faces DUI charges and is losing his job.

An 8 hour sobriety checkpoint was set up from 7pm Saturday to 3am Sunday in the area surrounding the Sahara Ave and Valley View Blvd intersection. Police say that the checkpoint led to 11 arrests.

Over 4,700 vehicles were checked and 11 of them were found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Checkpoints like this often lead to large amounts of DUI arrests in a short period.

Approximately three weeks ago, a man was allegedly involved in a crash that killed a bicyclist. He was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

On Thursday, a Las Vegas man asked his 11 year old son to drive home after he became too intoxicated. Police noticed the child driving and the man passed out in the passenger seat when the car made an abrupt turn.

A DUI checkpoint was set up over the 4th of July weekend in Washoe County the hopes of detering drunk driving. As a result, 3 people were arrested for DUI just at that checkpoint.

The checkpoint lasted about five hours on Sunday along Pyramid Highway. There were more than 2,000 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. Two other checkpoints were also scheduled for the weekend.
